| December Report on Misty Morning Farm Well, let see what has happened in our world in Nov 08.. On the Farm Front, we have enjoyed good weather for most of Nov and had green grass until late Nov, when we finally got a skiff of snow, but most of the time it has not stayed at all. The Different Birds are all doing well, and I can't wait to get my first Green, Blue or Purple eggs, never have a seen such colorful birds as my new little American's flock. The Rabbits have been breeding like crazy and as I am behind in processing them, I am sending 30 plus out to a local butcher to get them done and it will be so nice to get back down to four does and two bucks again.. boy they are so not kidding at the Breed like bunnies LOL The Sheep and Goats are doing well, everyone is getting their winter coats, but they appear to be SO enjoying their new much bigger fenced in outside area's. A few of my girls came into heat quite early and so they are already starting to show some size to them and I expect to have new lambs in Dec or very early Jan.. thank goodness for my heated small barn. Cats are all doing well at this time, a new little short coated white female has clearly decided that she is now part of the farm.. it has only taken us weeks to get to the point of just touching her.. another stray or drop off, showed up this month and then quickly had a litter of kittens.. Just my little rant! Please don't drop your cats off at my farm! I have enough cats.. I have had six new cats "appear" this year and while I feed them and try to find new homes, its really starting to make me pissed off.. not at the cats of course, but at the peaple.. On the Dog front, we are doing very well, you can see all the show news on the main site, but its been a good month in that regards.. all the dogs are healthy and loving the snow and their cold winter runs, I don't know what it is about snow and Icelandics but they just to leap a little higher and play a little harder.. and of course the rolls in the snow are always so cute. I was informed that I forgot to talk about dog training classes.. so Valentino, an Ada both took Show Training Classes in Nov, an Duchess took Basic Obedance Classes in Nov. Greenstone Harvest Moon was taken for her Puppy Temperment Test, Our Next Classes start in Jan 09. The garden has been totally put to bed at this time, we just finished closing down the cold frames the last week of Nov, and have now started growing some fresh greens and few other things indoors for winter, given that its Dec, it will not be long before I am starting some of the different seeds for the coming spring, my seed catalogs are already starting come in the mail. On my canning, I have been canning Rabbit, Strawberry and Kiwi Jelly..and last but not least been enjoying making alot of new kinds of cakes and muffins. |
