Happy New Year!
The year has started off in a good way, we have had nice weather this week with good sun and have been able to get the dogs out for more runs this week.. always a good thing..
Did a little photo session with a few of the dogs, and got some nice face shots, I will share them here as I add news to the page.

The biggest
News of the week is that Freyja was annouced to be #84 Top Herding Dog in Canada for the year 2008.. The first time for an Icelandic Sheepdog to make the top 100 Herding Dogs in Canada.

The weather has been in control of the first week of the new year.. and we are under yet another new snow storm.. the dogs love it, and I have to admit that I do so admire watching the wind in the dogs coats.. as the dogs were bred to be in the colder climates, its always great to see that my guys have the proper coats and that no matter how hard the wind blows that the undercoat of my dogs still keeps them warm.

What a lovely photo of Olof, he is such a pretty long coated red and white Pied boy, he is starting to develop into his self with age..
This weekend was so much fun with the dogs, while its been a bit cold, and we needed to bundle up quite a bit, we put on the snowshoes and took the dogs for a number of winter hikes.

What a difference the snowshoes make in being able to walk in the big fields around the farm.. Jason went all the way down to the river, I stayed closer to home but everyone furry, four legged or two legged got a good work out..

Jason had sit down and got a snuggle and warm hello by Oppa.. she is such a sweetheart!
Wow, we have been in the deep freeze, its been SO cold this past week.. We had a little surprise or make that two surprises from our lovely girl Ada..

So we had a quiet week, one of my new pullets started laying and unlike my other two with little brown/greenish eggs, this new hen is laying bright! light green eggs. So pretty..

I have started some of my herbs this past week, and my sweet basil is already up and growing..Spring is on the way, I swear it really is.. we are on the way.

We had our first lamb, a big healthy brown and white single. Chocolate is as always just a great mom and has tons of milk, so I think I will start sneaking down and getting a bit of fresh milk .
Well my week started off with bright sunshine, and cold temps again!
Our little new Ram Lamb is doing very well and is as frisky as can be.
The Barn Cats have decided that they can sit on the rails of the deck and sleep in the sun, so clearly their winter coats are working well!

The chickens are starting to lay more..
The ducks are so funny, they get their warm water twice a day, but they love to snow bath.. its so funny to see a duck bathing itself in the snow.. have to see if I can get a photo of it.
Three new litters of baby buns in the nest boxs
The truck had to go in and getting a good winter tuneup but now that is its ship shape, I am looking forward to starting my trips into the city for extra dog training..
I was thrilled to find a new Agility School, with a full set up less then 15 min away and they offer a really great deal of field greens.. only 20 dollars a month with unlimited use of the training field..  or only 70 for the whole six month season.. what a great deal.

Tera has started her heat, and I will hope that unlike the last two times that she missed, that perhaps this time, she will in fact have one last litter before she is retired.. I can dream an hope.
