Welcome to winter, we had our very first skiff of snow, woke up to a winter wonder land and I put on my hat and took the pups out for their first playtime in the snow, Icelandic Sheepdogs of all ages love the snow, and while it was gone by noon, everyone has a blast running the fields. This first weekend of Nov, we are having amazing weather and are off mushroom hunting with the dogs in the woods, they love to go hiking and to swim in the creeks and ponds.. Aw the life of a dog..

Coming up is a wonderful two day seminar called
Breeding Better Dogs
I am greatly looking forward to seeing what is all new in this seminar, I went years and years ago , and he has put out new books and video's since, so will be interesting to see all the information, I firmly believe in line-breeding (please note, I did not say in-breeding ) and think that its very important to do so in the Icelandic Sheepdogs. We have a small gene pool but in order to have a firm grasp of what our dogs will produce in regards to type, temperment and size, as well as health matters, you need to be working and breeding with related dogs, the more you outcross the greater the risk of the unknown happening. Its an exciting time in breeding dogs, we have X-rays to look at  hips/elbows, we have Vets that are experts of the eyes CERF, we have DNA tests, and more information and tools then any generations before us,  Its amazing really when you grasp all  the health an temperment tests that we ask our dogs to pass in order to breed.

Most long term hobby breeders who study lines and attend breeding seminars held by Breeding experts grasp why a well-rounded breeding program uses linebreed. No matter what breeder you choose to get your Icelandic Sheepdog Puppy from it would be a good idea to ask them to explain why they breed the litter and what they hope to improve on in the next generations, its the current fad at the moment within the breed to outcross, I respect the breeders that are willing to take this risk with their breeding programs but I am more comfortable with a solid proven method of producing sound healthy dogs.

Greenstone Creme da Creme

Creme is a lovely long coated Cream and White Female Icelandic Sheepdog. She is a true Leveit (Born Cream) and carries Black Tricolor. She is a very sturdy girl, with good bone, nice depth of chest, good layback and nice level topline, she gives the impression of being compact and able to work all day long, her movement is divine and she has large lowset double dewclaws, with lovely dark almond eyes, with black pigment on lips, eye rims and feet pads, her nose leather must have a dilute factor at work as it looks brownish.
She is has a wonderful temperment, and it truly can be said to be a easy going ISD, she reminds me of her mother Dalla so! many ways.

Her biggest conformation fault is that she lacks a tight curl with hook, having said that, it does curl and touch her back so is within  Breed standard . To learn more about the correct tails for the breed, please check out the
Tails Page

Would be willing to consider a co-own home for Creme

New to the Breed, Join the ISD Show Online Group- All ISD topics welcome on the list.
The Seminar was amazing and so much more information on a huge range of subjects was talked about and learned.
Ottawa Kennel Club Show weekend went well, Greenstone Grima Gloa earned her first points and Greenstone Ada earned her last point to become a new Champion, that was a long time coming, as she has been sitting on the dreaded nine for awhile now, and the newer younger puppies have been beating her, (which in a way is good, as it means that my new puppies are better then my older dogs, which is the way it should! be) but really wanted to finish this wonderful girl.

New updates and photos on some of the puppies, Tofa went for her Herding Evaulation and passed wtih flying colors. Sam passed his first puppy obedance class and is heading into his second. I just loved this photo of him and his owner, as its clear that they are just having fun and great eye contact. So Enjoy the photos folks and have a great fall.

One other thing note worthy, I am pleased to annouce that this website is now listed as the
2nd Highest Ranked Icelandic Sheepdog Site on Google! How very cool is that! I will continue to add and work on the site and hopefully someday it will be #1.

What a handsome boy! Thanks for the updates.
I just love this photo of Dalla, she likes to watch out the windows and make sure everything is right on the farm. She just looks so content.
Dalla is one of my favorite girls, she is so sweet..just adore her.
